Friends Only

♥ Megan

I used to feel so alone in the city.
All those gazillions of people and then me,
on the outside.
Because how do you meet a new person?
I was very stumped by this for many years,
and then I realised.
You just say, "Hi"
They may ignore you,
or you may marry them.
And that possibility is worth that one word.

The Princess in the Tower - Sara Teasdale

I

The Princess sings:

I am the princess up in the tower
And I dream the whole day thro'
Of a knight who shall come with a silver spear
And a waving plume of blue.

I am the princess up in the tower,
And I dream my dreams by day,
But sometimes I wake, and my eyes are wet,
When the dusk is deep and gray.

For the peasant lovers go by beneath,
I hear them laugh and kiss,
And I forget my day-dream knight,
And long for a love like this.

II

The Minstrel sings:

I lie beside the princess' tower,
So close she cannot see my face,
And watch her dreaming all day long,
And bending with a lily's grace.

Her cheeks are paler than the moon
That sails along a sunny sky,
And yet her silent mouth is red
Where tender words and kisses lie.

I am a minstrel with a harp,
For love of her my songs are sweet,
And yet I dare not lift the voice
That lies so far beneath her feet.

III

The Knight sings:

O princess cease your dreams awhile
And look adown your tower's gray side --
The princess gazes far away,
Nor hears nor heeds the words I cried.

Perchance my heart was overbold,
God made her dreams too pure to break,
She sees the angels in the air
Fly to and fro for Mary's sake.

Farewell, I mount and go my way,
-- But oh her hair the sun sifts thro' --
The tilts and tourneys wait my spear,
I am the Knight of the Plume of Blue.

The Road Not Taken - Robert Frost

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

A Book - Emily Dickinson

XXI.

A BOOK.

He ate and drank the precious words,
His spirit grew robust;
He knew no more that he was poor,
Nor that his frame was dust.
He danced along the dingy days,
And this bequest of wings
Was but a book. What liberty
A loosened spirit brings!

New Journal

Hey-hey...

I've made a new journal on [info]pheenix7, which is just for random things like quiz results + harry potter news...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Daphne --- Diane has a LJ account [info]blab_girldiane
Nicolle --- Still doing the crochet club?
Nikki --- Did Nicolle tell you about what Nick was doing after science? Should I tell you? Nah.. I'll let Nicolle do it...
Sylvia --- Do you actually read my journal?
Diane --- Hiya! How are you?
Christine/Angela --- Have you got your Technobody back yet?
Chia-chi --- Update more!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So what did you guys think of Star of the Nationz? We're going tmr, right? --> Daphne's brother is on tmr
Do you wanna go Friday as well? I think the only person I know is Mutsa, and I've heard her sing heaps before so... do we HAVE to? I mean, a dollar is quite alot of money...

Argh.... computer keeps saying 'connection has been terminated'

I've had to reconnect almost SEVEN times now! Eep.

I think I might turn this journal into 'friends only' Not that it matters... I'm just warning you.

Who is the person that keeps 'hugging' me? Tell now! I mean, there's like a new hug every time I go look! WHO IS IT???!!!

Bleep. I think younger-sons/daughters get favoured by mums/dads. Like today, for example. My mother bought my brother a special tissue pack (because he has a cold) to take to school. But when I was sick, I had to fold my own tissues and find a little packet to stick them in because the small tissue packets were a 'waste of money'. And don't say it's 'just because he's little' because when I was little, I never had one of those things either.

And my brother gets rewards for practicing piano. Like 20 Dollar rewards! And what do I get? "Ate..." - ate [pronounced a-te, not 'ate'] means 'older girl' like you have 'mrs' for an older woman... - "Please stop playing... Arvin's trying to watch TV!" (Arvin is my brothers name)

Anyway, since most of you guys are one of these 'younger' people, what do you think? Is it better to be eldest, youngest or middle-est... (I made that word up...)

Comment XD

Have a nice... night!

[edit] Where is everyone? I haven't seen Christine on LJ for ages now, and no-one seems to be commenting!

Terry Pratchett Quotes

Hey... I was going to put these up on 'Pakers' but since it's not working I thought I might as well put them here...

They're by a guy called Terry Pratchett who is a really good author... funny too ^^
He wrote (writes?) the Discworld series...

Here are the quotes:

For Daphne

Hey Daphne, this is the PE assignment...

JUST DO IT )

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Eep. That took ages to write! Sorry for any typos... it was my touch-typing...which sucks, by the way...
Hmmm.... I was going to say something else....
Hey... I always forget what I'm going to do on LJ!
*thinks hard*
Oh yeah... What did you guys think of Star of the Nationz? I still think it's overpriced... a whole dollar! And I would have thought there would be more people who could stay... on key most of the time...
For the benefit of Nikki (and anyone who reads my journal and doesn't go to PKC) first act was...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Lorraine Lau Who brought a VCD to be played in a CD player... so she was moved to the end and had to do a quick song change...
[LANGUAGE] Japanese

The guy who played the drums and that other instrument that looks like a clarinet accompanied by someone on the piano who we hardly ever heard
[LANGUAGE] Cantonese/Mandarin (I can't tell...)

The guy who threw off his coat in the middle of the song accompanied by... other people who I couldn't see At the end he sang... I believe I can win... to the tune of 'I believe I can fly'... haha, it was funny...
[LANGUAGE] Cantonese/Mandarin

Samuel Hoh (was it him? Oh well, who cares about order anyway...) He sang 'Reflections' from the Disney Mulan movie... But the audience was really sad! They started laughing! Stupid people...
[LANGUAGE] English

The really nervous girl She had to have this guy standing beside her for 'moral support'. Apparently, she was singing a 'guy' song... (that's what Daphne/Angela said)
[LANGUAGE] Cantonese/Mandarin

[edit] Angela just reminded me, there were also Two Korean Guys who sang in...er... Korean...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Er... I think that's it. Tell me if I missed someone.. 'kay?
Oh yeah, I already have the $5, so you guys don't need to remind me anymore =)
I still get the feeling I'm forgetting something...
Oh well. Tell you later. As my mum always says, 'You'll remember if it's important' (she's forever saying this to my brother)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

[edit] Aha! I remember! I was going to tell you guys about the new books I saw!

Stravaganza - The City of Flowers
- This is the third (?) in the series, and it's about certain people (called 'Stravagantes') who can travel between 'parallel worlds' with the help of a certain magical item (which is different for each stravagante). I'm not quite sure what this one is about though... but it's sure to be good! Wahey!

The Third Summer of the Sisterhood of the Pants (Ann Brashers)
- I'm sure you know this series by now... it's a bit hard to explain for those who don't...ummm... It's about these four girls (Carmen, Tibby, the-sporty-one-who-I-can't-remember-the-name-of and Lena) who find these 'magic' pants (because they fit each of the four girls perfectly...) and decide to make them into a sort of 'rememberer' thingy... umm... what I mean to say is, they sort of 'share' the pants around during the summer holidays, when they are apart (ie. One girl gets them for two weeks, then mails them on to the next girl) so the pants share all their memories and 'bring them together'-ish.

Yeah... maybe someone else can explain it better?

Science Technology Roadshow

HEL-LOOOOOOO

*coughs* Ahem. Yes, well. Anyway.

I did that science technology roadshow thing yesterday. Remember? Well, now you know. D'you know, some of those kids were extremely *underline underline underline* annoying! Like, we're supposed to be explaining, so I explain, and then they sorta stare at me.
Then they're like: "No."
Then I go: "Yes! That's how it works!"
"No."
"Yes!"
"No."
"Yes!"
*stare* *walks away*

And this was basically how the whole day went. *sighs* But some of the kids were quite smart... like there were these intermediate kids from... somewhere who knew what inertia (sp.?) is. Do you know? Inertia is the resistance to change (eg. like how a glass of water won't just suddenly decide to tip over). And they KNEW. I mean, I didn't know!

But the exhibits were okay... there was this one machine that made really cool patterns which I was going to scan and put up here.....but I sorta forgot to bring them home ^^;

Ooh.. and the blackhole! That was cool! You put this pool-ball (cue-balls?) which represents this earth into this 'wishing well' type thing and it goes round and round and round, faster and faster and faster until it plops out the other end.... I did it sooo many times!

Celtic Woods

Here is that thing that was on Nikki's Journal... I'm the same as her (birch) what are you? Go here:

BETH (Birch)
December 24 to January 20

Born under this sign, you have unwavering inner strength and gladly lend support to those who rely on you. Purity of thought and a knack for realistic evaluation and quiet determination are also associated with this tree sign.

To the druids, the Birch represented renewel and rebirth as it was the first tree in leaf after winter. Birch people are determined, resilient and ambitious. Good organisers, leaders and strategists, they are not deterred by setbacks, believing hard work, patience and persistance will triumph. They are loyal but reserved in showing affection.

[note] Good organisers, leaders and strategists --> Yeah right! (tui slogan... o_o)

The Ruling Diety
The Celtic Warrior God Lugh, inventor of all arts and crafts, rules this sign.

[note] Ruler of arts and crafts. haha ^^

The Druic Animal
The white stag symbolises high ideals and aspirations - Birch people need a goal in life or they become depressed and pessimistic.

[note] This is so not true! Right now, I have NO goals in life and I don't feel even a tiny bit sad!
